North Georgia Brewpubs

Moon River Cafe

Address: 101 W Main Street, Cartersville, GA 30120

Phone: (770) 606-1115

Moon River Cafe is owned by the same people who own the Moon River Brewing Company brewpub in Savannah, but the atmosphere and menu focus for this restaurant differs from that of its older sibling. While the beers offered on tap are the same (the beer was actually brewed in Savannah in the restaurant's beginning, but now is being brewed on premise), the menus differ drastically. The Cartersville location is upscale food and the prices can get a little pricey, although the food is excellent.

Dahlonega Brewing Company (Caruso's Italian Restuarant)

Address: 19 East Main Street, Dahlonega, GA 30500

Phone: (706) 864-4664

The northernmost brewpub in Georgia is also the most surprising. Most wouldn't expect there to be a brewpub in the little mountain town of Dahlonega, or even a good beer selection for that matter. But Caruso's Italian Restaurant downtown in Dahlonega is home to Dahlonega Brewing Company, which brews up several beers that can be found on tap in the restaurant's bar. The bar also has a fairly large tap selection that includes selections from Terrapin along with other craft breweries. Dahlonega Brewing Company is probably the best spot for a beer for a beer geek driving through the mountains on vacation or visiting the massive Gold Rush Arts and Crafts Festival in October of each year.
